REVIEWS - Ranked #2 Hotel in Bradenton Beach
“Simple, clean and convenient”
May 7, 2013 - South Orange, New Jersey
Stayed in one of the cottages for a long weekend and appreciated the location, across the street from the beach and walkable to town. The pool is small but clean and has a nice view of the bay. Probably better suited to a longer stay given the cottage has a kitchen and living area, but given the reasonable price and location, sufficed for our short stay. Beach towels, chairs and umbrellas are provided, a bonus.
“The BEST pet friendly hotel we ever stayed at!s”
May 7, 2013 - CT
We loved our 3 night stay so much we are going back in 3 weeks for 4 nights! We had a North cottage #18 and loved the size of it, the amenities, the ability to sit on the porch and view the Bay and the pool. Immaculate place, friendly staff.
“Perfect little cottages”
May 6, 2013
My husband and I just stayed at the Tradewinds Resort in cottage number 19 for 4 nights and we had a blast. A friend of mine actually recommended the Tradewinds to us b/c they really enjoyed staying here and I am so glad that she did. We will definitely be back!!! It's a very relaxing place, the cottages are very cute and spacious. This is a great place to relax, hang by the pool, fish off the dock, hit the beach, walk to breakfast, etc. loved it!
“Bill & Jill G'ville florida”
May 6, 2013 - Gainesville, Florida
My wife and I stayed two nights at this great little resort. The cottages are vintage but well kept and decorated for a beach kind of place. Very clean inside and out with a great pool and just a short walk to the beach. We found good resturants and watering holes near by and only got in the car to depart. My kind of place.
it is also located in a bike friendly area if you were so inclined.Courteous drivers look out for bikers and pedestrians.
With an attentive staff and a great location we plan to return very soon.
“Anna Maria Island - tropical paradise”
April 29, 2013 - Hingham, Massachusetts
we were there for 4 nights 5 days. The facility was a series of connected 2 room apartments- bed and combo living and kitchen. It's an older facility but well maintained and very clean. What we loved was the walking distance to Bridge St and the free island trolley just across the street from the entrance. The beach is right across the street (the drawback is you have to cross the street and there is no crosswalk) but people on the island are friendly enough to stop and let you cross. There are towels, beach umbrellas and lounge chairs available to all. Our unit had a main AC unit and a second one in the bedroom area.
“Allows for 2 night lodging where most others require 3.”
April 18, 2013 - andover ma
We stayed for 2 nights and it was great. The small apartment was clean parking right outside your door. The beach wasn't inconvenient, next door and across the street. Pick up umbrellas and towels outside the check in area and plenty of lounge chairs on the beach. Location was great and the staff super friendly.
“Nice quiet and picturesque place to stay"”
April 17, 2013 - Van Wert, Ohio
We enjoyed the cute little cottage we stayed in, very nicely decorated and well equipped if you wanted to cook for yourselves.Convenient, quiet location on a tropical looking "street." Very picturesque resort, nothing fancy, but that's just our style. We loved the island feel away from the commercialized high rises found on other beaches. You do have to cross the street to get to the beach, but just a short walk and the resort provided towel and umbrellas, with plenty of chairs right on the beach. The pool looked great; we didn't stay long enough to try it out but kids there seemed to enjoy it. Neat that the resort rests between the bay and the beach. Sunrises and sunsets within a few steps from your door. We would definitely consider staying here again. Use the trolley to check out the island. It's free and fairly convenient.
“Tradewinds ticks most boxes on AMI"!”
April 10, 2013 - Rochester, MN
We stayed at the Tradewinds on AMI for 2 nights this past week. We wanted a true 'Island' experience and we felt the Tradewinds gave us just that. Check in was quick and the gentleman checking us in was a hoot, all while giving us the essential information of the resort. The resort is basically two rows of duplex/triplex buildings facing each other with a lane and parking in between. Grounds are very pretty. Parking was ample and it was SO nice to just back up right by our villa to unload/load our stuff. The villa itself was clean (albeit on the small side and a tad worn but by no means shot) and contained a small kitchen with essentials that one might need for a multi night stay. The king bed was comfortable. The bathroom is small and the showerhead and pressure was average at best. Our 3 year old had to use the couch bed and while it was ok for a lightweight like her, it would be very uncomfortable for an adult with bars and springs easily felt. We did not use the pool due to rainstorms and cooler weather at the time we were there, but it looked inviting. We did like walking out on the resort's dock and Gulf beach access is pretty close and easily walk-able.
The resort was priced at $200/nt when we stayed there, which is high end but not unlike any other decent resort you would find on AMI.
So all in all, this is a pretty good place and a quintessential old fashioned island resort experience. If you want a Hilton or Marriott beach-side, choose another island you wont find them on AMI. Choose the Tradewinds for a resort that fits its locale.
March 16, 2013 - Traverse City, Michigan
This was our first trip to the gulf side of Florida, and loved it. Tradewinds resort was just what we were looking for - quaint and laidback. Everyone was so friendly. Good restaurants are near -by and a beautiful sunset is just across the street. The staff is very helpful. We already reserved the same cottage for next year.

“Lovely and convenient"”
March 14, 2013 - Morristown,Tn
These picturesque cottages have flowers and greenery on and around them. Most of them face each other across a lane that runs from the gulf to the bay. It's very handy parking your car right next to the door of your cottage. It was cool when we were there, so we used the heat, which worked well. There is a nice ceiling fan over the bed. I found the mattress and bedding comfortable. The closet was large and convenient. There is good water pressure in the shower, but you will run out of hot water if you linger too long in there. There is no TV in the bedroom, but there is one in the sitting room. The little kitchen has everything you need. Internet use and telephone calls (including long-distance) are free. The cottage was very clean. There is a nice pool and a pier. I'd like to stay at Tradewinds again.
“A Real Gem”
March 14, 2013 - Rockville, Maryland
The cottages at Tradewinds are clean, well-stocked, and convenient. There is a wonderful pool, a fishing pier, access to the Gulf and free trolleys, great restaurants and shopping within walking distance and a friendly, helpful staff. What more could you want?
We have been coming here for years and have tried other places but none can beat this gem.

“Please, don't make this fabulous place more popular”
March 12, 2013 - Port Dalhousie, Ontario, Canada
I am actually reluctant to tell you how much i enjoyed my stay at tradewinds resort. it is exceptional. the staff, the location... i am hoping to make this my forever vacation spot. but please, don't tell anyone!.
March 9, 2013
Ok, so the cottages are not the most modern, but, they are very tidy, pleasant places. The resort is a private street between the ocean and the inland waterway. The staff are very friendly, knowledgable and willing to help in any way. There is an on site laundry which is free for residents (including the driers). Because its a private street with cottages either side people meet and talk to each other. All in all an excellent holiday stay on Anna Maria island.
“Location, Location, Location”
March 9, 2013 - Raleigh, NC
Have stayed here many, many years. The Tradewinds is "old Florida" to us. You won't find high rises anywhere on AMI. The island is amazing but this resort is in such a good location. We like walking (or you can take the free trolley) to historic Bridge Street for shopping, putt putt, breakfast on the bay at Rotten Ralphs, cocktails on the bay at the Bridge Tender, and eating at many delicious restaurants. It is probably a mile or less walk. The trolley stops are right at this hotel and the trolley is free and very pleasant to use. Their pool is right on the bay (great view!) and always heated, clean and very quiet. Tends to be an older, quiet crowd that cruise this island and use this resort. This resort is small enough that you can meet your neighbors and we have always had such a pleasant experience here. They provide free towels for the pool and beach, free chairs and umbrellas for the beach. You can rent bikes and have them delivered to you. Although, we prefer to ride bikes about 10 minutes away on the northern end of the island and stay on the residential streets enjoying all the lovely quaint cottages and homes. After doing more shopping on Pine Street, that is, and having a beer on the Pier. Take in a quick bite at Jane E's and enjoy a great "old Florida" shopping experience. Be sure to take a Segway tour while you are on AMI. Visit the Historical Museum. Catch a beautiful sunset with the sun falling into the ocean every night where people applaud and play guitar. Can't go wrong with this resort. Across the street is a brand new beach entrance just built that is beautiful. Enjoy a crepe breakfast at their La Petit Cafe at the Tortuga Inn also next door. I will go back again and again.
March 7, 2013 - Traverse City, Michigan
We love Anna Maria Island but were not familiar with this resort. We were very pleasantly surprised. The staff are the greatest asset: desk, housekeeping, grounds...they are all helpful and want your stay to be a pleasant one.
The location is excellent, on a narrow section of the key, so that you are enjoying the beaches and the Intracoastal Waterway, complete with fishing dock/seating. The heated pool is on the Intracoastal frontage.
The cottage was immaculate and well equipped. There is even a covered porch with seating!
Quiet hours are respected by the people staying there, too.
Location is great in that you can walk to restaurants with great menus/choices. "Beach bikes" are readily available to rent...marina is within walking distance, as are some shops.
Again, the people want you to enjoy your stay, and you will.
“A wonderful 4 days!"”
March 7, 2013 - Bangor, Maine
We almost cancelled our recent trip due to flight problems but we were lucky and did make it to one of our favorite spots. We had stayed here before and came back again. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It is clean, the people are friendly and the location is gorgeous.
“Great Place & Great People”
March 1, 2013 - Cherry Valley, Illinois
This was our first stay at Tradewinds Beach Resort and it will not be our last. The pictures here and on their website don't do the place justice. It really is beautiful. Our one-bedroom unit was very nicely appointed and equipped. The unit and the entire grounds were very clean and I cannot say enough about the staff. We chose this place because it was pet friendly and our yellow lab loved it too.
“Relaxation at it's Finest"”
Fe. 26, 2013 - Wallace, IN
Anna Maria Island is a Beautiful place to visit and one of the most relaxing places I have ever stayed. If you don't want to pay the high $$ to stay at the Outer Banks during the summer, try Anna Maria Island anytime! You won't find the chain restaurants or stores here, but you can cross the bridge to Bradenton if you are looking for that. The natives are friendly, the restaurants are down-to-earth, the beaches are WONDERFUL and free! You can walk around the entire island if you want! Best of all, you can find a place like Tradewinds to stay that isn't overpriced & offers you a full kitchen, bath, bed, livingroom-with-pullout-couch, cable, porch, outdoor grilling, & a pool !!!!!! Just cross the street to access to the beach!!!! Beats the hotels Hands-Down!!!! Make sure to take in the local restaurants (cash only, please) and go North for the sand dollars. Don't forget to get a pizza at Oma's Pizza; best darned pizza on the planet!!! As General MacArthur said, "I shall return"!!
“Wonderful stay at Tradewinds”
February 25, 2013 - Minnesota
We had a wonderful week on Anna Maria island at the Tradewinds Feb 8 to the 16th, 2013. Our flight came in late. I called the resort . Keys were in the drop box. The staff was very courteous; our condo was clean and neat. Only inconvenience no coffee filters and a few things like salt and pepper. Coming in late and having to find a grocery store was a little hassle at night.
Over all stay...Great! We would stay again!
“Home away from home”
February 25, 2013 - Byron Center, Michigan
We have stayed with the tradewind family for 8 years. Cottage 18 for two years & cottage 20 for 6 years. We enjoy the pool and these two cottages are just steps away for the heated, clean pool. I also enjoy " beach walk", the beach is just across Gulf drive a short walk from the tradewind office. The staff is always ready to help and they work faithfully to keep everything clean. The setting of the "Old Florida cottages" is eye pleasing, Sarasota Bay to the East and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. Dolfin play both places.
February 25, 2013 - Bellbrook, Ohio
My husband and I were looking for a peacefulwinter get away with our little cat and we found it!
We found it at Tradewinds Beach Resort in Bradenton Beach, FL. We have stayed at many
places that allow an animal but were disappointed either because the place was too old or
too dirty. Not so at Tradewinds. There are cottages that are pet friendly and some that are not. All these cottages are well maintained, the staff is so friendly and helpful, and the Bay is right behind their swimming pool. The Gulf of Mexico is just across a 2-lane street. So EZ to get to, and Tradewinds provide umbrellas and chairs are already at the beach. Nice clean, not crowded beach. Just a delightful visit.
“Wonderful stay in a quiet relaxing atmosphere”
Feb. 25, 2013 - Champaign, Illinois
This was our second year staying at the Tradewinds Resort. We love the cottages and stayed in one of the north cottages which was a little bigger than the one we stayed in last year. The extra square footage made a difference. These cottages are just what we are looking for. Clean, up to date, but with a bit of the old Florida charm. We loved the walk in closet, so we could store all our stuff out of sight. Every morning we took our walk on the beach The heated swiming pool was just what we needed in late afternoon. The free trolly was a great part of the experience. We almost newer took the car out during the entire week we were there. This is a well run place. We have already scheduled the same cavin for next year.
“Wonderful old Florida cottages”
Feb, 22, 2013 - Madison, Al
We stayed in cottage #5 or 6 (can't remember now.) The front of the cottage was lush with plants and flowers. Our one bedroom cottage was very nice and very clean. They have a wonderful dock on the bay that we visited to see fish and one evening a dolphin! The pool was wonderfully heated and made our visiting grandchildren very happy! The beach is across the street but is no problem to get to. The chairs, umbrellas, and towels are provided. A lovely, quaint old Florida feel. Just what we were looking for. Would love to stay for a month or so in the winter. The office staff was wonderful to help us with all our questions. A great winter getaway.
February 21, 2013 - Fernandina Beach, Florida
We loved the "old Florida" feel of this little resort. Easy access to the bay and beach was great. The unit was one of the cleanest we've ever rented! The staff was helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better place to get-a-way, yet it was easy to go into Sarasota for dinner altho places in Bradenton Beach were great.
“Love this place”
Jan. 19, 2013 - Florida
What a great property. We stayed in the Gulf Villa, which can be either a 1 or 2 bedroom. It was very comfortable and had a great screened in porch. The bay side is also beautiful. There is a short walk down and across the street to the private beach. Will stay here again.
Jan. 4, 2013 - Plant City,Florida
My wife and I had our 14th anniversary January 8th , and only having only 1 day and night to "get away" I actully stumbled across the Tradewinds Resort in Brandenton while looking through the hundreds of ...Snobby chains. :)
I have more of an Old Florida attitude, never being one for..actually Avoiding, the big name places and locations so I took the chance after reviewing the pictures on the Tradewinds Resort website.
Dont let the crowded location at the street fool you , this place is an amazing location , close to home , and although its sandwiched between all the others, the second you pull in the drive , you could never tell your in the middle of Bradenton Beaches Resort row !
Cottages ! Not Rooms or Cubicles,Amazingly clean and fully stocked with all the essentials, full size appliances ,Long front porches, chairs and BBQ areas, Beautiful landscaping, awesome heated pool ,and catch Monster speckled trout right from their private back dock overlooking Sarasota Bay ! Guld Beaches is right across the street with their own privte beach area reserved for guests, and some of the Friendliest, personable staff I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with !
I will Definately be going back when we get the rare chance to get away for a day or 2 !
“great peaceful week”
Jan. 4, 2013 - Charlotte, North Carolina
we spent the Christmas week at Tradewinds although the weather did not cooperate the resort was great. Everyone was helpful and brought a bunch of extra blankets to keep the chill off. We have stayed before and it is a very quaint old time florida style cabins. We had a 1 bedroom that was perfect everything we needed was there and we fully enjoyed the peaceful time. We had our German Shepherd dog with us and she fully enjoyed people watching while there. Directly across from the beach and on the gulf you can watch the sun come up and the the sun go down. Very nice location.
“A Must-Stay Resort”
Jan. 2, 2013
If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in an 'Old Florida' setting then Tradewinds on Anna Maria Island is the perfect place to stay. Thoroughly recommended! Great value for money and superb location near stunning sandy beach and intra coastal waterway.
“It does not get much better than this, around here...”
Jan. 1, 2013 - Chicago, Illinois
This area of Florida is rather old school, family oriented, and not a lot of development, maybe a few condo building over 4 floors on the island, otherwise, its cottages and small condo/villa buildings, and almost anywhere, is close to a great beach to relax, walk, fish, swim, and play all day..or night.
TradeWinds is a great little gem in the somewhat more sterile or modern lodging, as its very inviting and relaxing, small and intimate, both in the cottages, and also the pool, or the short walk across road to a great beach. They have chairs/umbrellas and towels for guest, as well you have the Tortuga Inn for more options, cafe, pool and laundry. I stayed there 4 years ago, and had a great stay too. My sister lives in Orlando area and she comes to Tradewinds with her teen daughter for a girls weekend, her husband for a romantic getaway, and sent my wife and I here for the NYE week after Xmas.
It has a great feel, the cottages are simple and refined, the kitchens are new, as are the baths, and atmosphere is one that makes you sad to leave it behind. They also have great BBQ areas next to the cottages, under flower covered porches and nice stone tables inlayed with spanish tiles.
I cant think of anything to say negative, we had a toilet bust, and the repair guy was there in minutes and was polite and took a few minutes and off he went with a smile. Its all good here.
One nice thing about this location is the access to many places for eating/drinking or food/grocery. Be sure to visit the Cortez Seafood Shack and fish market on 119th, and also the Rod n Reel, as well as Starfish, and Sand Dollar at sunset...
The parks are gorgeous, here, DeSoto National Memorial end of 75th is lovely to hike or day trip for a very raw beach in nature, the way it was before anything was built.
“Great Place for Family Vacation”
Dec. 30, 2012 - Orlando, Florida
We stayed at Tradewinds Resort the last week of September 2012. We had an awesome stay. The resort was beautiful. Every member of the staff was accommodating and helpful. Definitely planning on returning to Tradewinds Resort in 2013. The feel of the resort was very inviting.
“Our 4th vacation at Tradewinds”
Dec. 11, 2012 - Ottawa, Ohio
This resort is situated on one of the narrowest part of the island. You have the bay right next to the heated pool at the back of the property, and the beach just across the street at the front. It is within walking distance to the Bridge Street area with many restaurants, bars, and shops. There is a lot of repeat guests who come here year after year.We met another couple from Ohio that own a beautiful resort at Kellys Island on Lake Erie (Venture Resort)and they keep coming to Tradewinds time after time.On the advice from the Tripadvisor Anna Maria Island travel forum regulars we found the little inlet across the bay on Palma Sola blvd.where manatee hang out and we got to watch about 6 of them up close. In the near future Tradewinds is supposed to install computerized flat screens (Activision)in both the living areas and bedrooms so that will be nice if the parents want to watch something different than the kids on a rare rainy day.Thank you for another perfect vacation Tradewinds.
“Tradewinds Beach Resort”
Nov. 30, 2012 - Westminster, Maryland
My husband and I stayed at the Tradewinds Beach Resort this past summer for a 4 day mini vacation and loved it. We would definitely go back. It was peaceful and quiet, nice pool, easy beach access, clean rooms and very comfortable. Pat, Summerfield, Fl.
“Laid-back and Lovely”
Nov. 26 2012 - Chatham, NY
Finally found a place that epitomizes what 'getting away' is all about. The Tradewinds is beautiful, well-maintained, and an all-around lovely stay with an even lovelier staff. Sarasota Bay is right out the window (in the apartment we stayed in) with 'jumping' fish and colorful sunrises. Right across the street is the beach on the Gulf of Mexico where beach chairs are always available (as well as the clearest, bluest water and loads of egrets and pelicans). A great all-around get-away vacation!
Room Tip: The Bay Villa rooms are right on the water with lovely porches
Nov. 9, 2012 - Broadview Heights, Ohio
We heard about this hotel through an AAA site. We spent a long weekend in April 2012 there. The cottage was very roomy and clean. It was charming and the outside areas were gorgeous with beautiful flowers. The pool was right there with plenty of chairs. It was fairly quiet the whole weekend, even considering there was some large group there. The beach was a 5 minute walk across the street. Every night there was a beautiful sunset at the beach. We had a nice relaxing long weekend. I highly recommend Tradewinds and the whole Anna Maria island vacation.
“Excellent Place to Stay”
Nov. 7, 2012 - Auburndale, Florida
We've stayed at many of the resorts on Anna Maria Island and we enjoyed our stay here more than any of the others. The people are friendly. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The property is well maintained. It's a great place. We've already booked to come back next year.
“This is what Florida is supposed to be like”
Nov. 6, 2012 - London, Canada
My boyfriend and I flew into Orlando from Detroit and spent two days at Universal, but wanted more of a relaxing vacation, which is exactly what Tradewinds gave us. I had been to the island many times before, but this was his first time and I wanted him to have the perfect island experience, which is why I chose Tradewinds. I had been to other hotels on the island, but none of them felt quite as authentic as Tradewinds. The cottages are clean, spacious (even the smallest ones), comfortable, and welcoming. The location is perfect, situated with the Gulf on one side and the bay on the other. The fishing docks here are the best in Bradenton. A short walk to The Beachhouse restaurant, pier, and docks. The trolley will take you anywhere you want to go on the island and stops are numerous. The pool was clean the whole time we were there and there were always more than enough lounge chairs for everyone. Plus side: they have lounge chairs on the beach, so if you're flying you don't have to bring your own. There is also jet ski, kayak, and catamaran rentals right beside Tradewinds' beach. The staff at the hotel are friendly, professional, and helpful. If you're looking for a relaxing, laid-back vacation with perfect sunsets, Tradewinds is the perfect hotel for you.
“Lovely and relaxing stay at Gulf Drive Villa”
Nov. 6, 2012 - England
We chose Tradewinds on it's great TA reviews and we were not disappointed.
The resort is small and runs across the island from bay to beach (almost) and the staff are all very friendly.
Our Gulf Drive Villa #35 comprised of kitchen, bathroom, lounge with sofabed ( DD said it was uncomfortable), sleeping area (separated by sliding doors) with lovely King size bed and separate BR with queen sized bed. The accomodation was spacious enough for our family of 4.There are plenty of closets and chest of drawers for storage and everything was immaculately clean with daily housekeeping.
There is a lovely small heated pool facing the bay and a little jetty from which we fished and watched the birds, fish, crabs and one day we could even see a dolphin swim past, a wonderful experience. At the beach opposite the Tortuga Inn (2 mins away) you can use free sun loungers and free towels and umbrella's are provided at reception. The resort was quiet although during the day the road in front of our unit was busy and noisy but at night time it was quiet and despite being light sleepers we were never disturbed by any cars.
A bonus is the free trolley that stops just outside the resort and runs all day at 20 min intervals- a great way to explore the Island. Publix and Walgreens are about 1 mile away and stock everything you could need.
Would we return? Definitely but I would try and reserve the 2 BR bayside appartement for the view of the amazing sunrise and the peace and quiet away from the road.
“A perfect spot for relaxing, with all you need on hand”
Nov. 1, 2012
We travelled from UK to see friends in Florida but wanted a few days relaxing on the Gulf Coast. Trade winds was everything we needed. A beautiful row of shutter boarded units running away from the road so quiet but convenient for the trolley bus. A pool at one end and the beach at the other was great. The units were well appointed and beautifully clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will come back when we've saved up the air fares!
“A favorite spot”
Oct. 31, 2012 - Flora, IN
It is a very quiet place, yet close to the gulf. We get away from home simply to relax. We spend a lot of time walking the beach and watching the water. We are close enough to walk to several shopping areas. The restaurants are very good, most people are friendly. The cottage is clean and very comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We look forward to coming back to the Tradewinds.
“Amazing Anniversary Weekend Getaway”
Oct. 31, 2012 - Seminole, Florida
My husband and I drove about an hour from the St. Pete area to "getaway" for a long weekend to celebrate our Anniversary. After much research, we settled on Tradewinds Beach Resort because of the reviews and quaint Key West style villas and its proximity to the most gorgeous beaches in Florida. We had a comfy king bed, separate living room and full kitchen well equipped for our needs. Although we ate every meal out, we fixed appetizers and cocktails and enjoyed the amenities on the property: the pool and scenic dock on the bayside. Each morning we'd grab a complimentary umbrella and towel to walk across the street about 500 yards to the private beach with supplied chairs. The morning water was perfect to rent and learn how to paddleboard! The hotel was easily within walking distance of cute shops, restaurants and beach bungalo bars to relax and celebrate. We truly had a wonderful time that we were happy to recommend to our friends after returning home. A real gem!
“Charming beach getaway”
Oct. 31, 2012
A quaint & beautiful street of cottages on a quiet & comfortable beach. Each cottage has all the amenities you'll want or need and includes beach umbrellas and chairs. The landscaping is lush and tropical. Lovely restaurants and shops nearby. Easy public access transportation if you need it. Great vacation spot.
“Comfortable clean place to stay”
Oct. 24, 2012
Pet allowed pet resorts are few. Great place for pets and their owners. Beach right across street. Nice dock for fishing. Room had a nice kitchenette in case you want to stay in. Would stay again in the future.
“Cozy and welcoming”
Oct. 17, 2012 - Johnsburg, Illinois
We have visited the Tradewinds several times and will continue to return to this adorable property. The staff is always kind and helpful and very knowledgable about the island. They are willing to answer questions and they treat you like family while you are there. The accomodations are clean and comfortable. We try to stay in Unit 10 because we love the open kitchen and the large bed, but we have stayed in other units and they are also very nice. We return every year and have never had any problems with the accomodations or the staff. The trolly stops right out in front and the central location is perfect, in walking distance to shops and restaurants. We have stayed in other places on the island and Tradewinds is our favorite. We are already planning our trip for next year!
“Amazing time on a great island”
Oct. 16, 2012 - Soquel
We have been on a trip around the US so have stayed in a lot of places. This was probably our favorite accommodation. The cottage was so comfortable and had everything we needed. I was able to do laundry at the office and everyone was so helpful and friendly. We rode the free trolley from one end of the island to the other and ate at some really good restaurants. If we ever are going to Florida again we will certainly plan on staying there.
“OUR LITTLE PARADISE”
Oct.16, 2012 - Clearfield, Pennsylvania
This has been my third trip to the Trade Winds Resort. I took my daughter and her two children this October 2012 and we enjoyed it so much. The children first visit to the ocean and they enjoyed the pool at the resort. The rooms are very clean and cheerful and the staff was very accomodating. They were very helpful for me to get around to see different attractions. So nice to have the umbrellas, towels, and sand toys for the kids. The ocean and bay were within walking distance and had chance to view the sunsets. Plan to return in February with my friends from Missouri. G. Stiner
“Very Happy with our Stay at the Tradewinds Beach Resort”
Oct. 16, 2012 - Jacksonville, Florida
This is our second trip to the Tradewinds. My wife and I stayed here in April and were so happy with our stay that we came back in October. The cottages are located between the bay and the beach. You can reach either within a few minutes. If you want to venture into Bradenton or Sarasota, there are several scenic routes to follow. The Tradewinds has been a great place to stay. The rooms are very clean and well equiped. The units have a full kitchen. If you are looking for a place a the beach, you should check out the Tradewinds.
“Very Pleased With Our Stay At Tradewinds Resort!”
Sept.29, 2012 - Mount Dora, Florida
Spending our Honeymoon at Tradewinds could not have been better. From the easy check-in to the end of our stay, we have no complaints. The cottage was clean and comfortable, with all needed amenities. The bay and beach were both within walking distance, providing beautiful sunrises and sunsets. If you are looking for a quiet and romantic location on Anna Maria Island, this is it!
“A too short stay in paradise”
Sept.26, 2012 - London, England
This was our 3rd visit to Anna Maria and the Tradewinds resort and sadly only for 1 night this time. However, I cannot fault this resort, great location, pleasant and helpful staff, small but clean and well located pool. Rooms a great size, comfortably and immaculately clean. Perfect stay and we will certainly be back next year.
“Wonderful relaxing stay at Tradewinds Resort”
Sept.16, 2012 - Congleton, UK
We had a perfect week staying at Tradewinds. The resort is small and the cottage was clean comfortable and cosy. The resort was extremely well maintained, the location perfect, and the staff at both Tradewinds and the sister resort Tortuga were very friendly and informative. The pool area was clean and secure and very relaxing. The fishing pier was wonderful to watch sunrise and sunset. An array of local wildlife including osprey. pelican, dolphin and even a shark can be seen from the pier. The beach is just a stride away and the water was a wonderful 86f whilst we were there. Very nice long walks along the beach either to the North or South, with friendly people along the way. Everything you need is within walking distance once you have investigated the area. If you feel like a change of scene, the free trolley bus that stops right outside of the resort is so convenient and air conditioned. We ate both in and out. Local fish and sea food was excellent. Beachhouse restaurant was a five minutes walk and a great place to eat with your feet in the sand to watch the spectacular sunsets. Our holiday overall was one of the best ever, as the Island is a very laid back and relaxing place to be. We will return again for sure. Thank you Tradewinds.
“AMAZING AND FRIENDLY RESORT”
Sept.14, 2012 - Hialeah, Florida
My family and I was very pleased with our stay at tradewinds resort. My wife and my two kids enjoy the resort very much. The cottages are perfect and conftable and the staff keep the rooms and the area clean at all time, the pool was very clean, The staff at the office was wonderfull and profesional and very friendly. Love the laid back feelins of the resort. The cottage are collorf- and the garden and porches are very relasing and beautifull, this little :PARADISE: remind me when I was a little kid back in my birth island of cuba. The private beach at tradewinds really was beautifull and just steps away from the resort, the restaurant are also close to the resort and the trolley came right in front of the resort. This is the best location in annamaria island just like us cuban say( FANTASTICO) I will def-tell all my friends and family to stay here, we are already planing vacations with friends and familys for next year. I lived in miami and I love it but is way to croured, Thats why I need the peace went i travel, and I founded in the beauty of tradewind resort,Thank you and your place is #1 to us and is goin to be also for my family and friends.see you pronto" " GOD BLESS"
“How can you not like Tradewinds”
Aug.27, 2012 - Grand Rapids, Ohio
We have been coming to Tradewinds for a couple of years and we love it. I have not written a review before because the vast majority have been very positive. I felt compelled to send a review after reading so many negative responses from a group that stayed in August and found it unpleasant. Tradewinds did respond to the reviews, but unfortunately , their responses were removed. It seems that there was a group of a people that booked the resort and were eventually asked to leave due to their behavior. I must tell you , Tradewinds is a family oriented resort. It is not a spring break type with loud parties till dawn. It is a quaint cottage style resort that brings in a variety of people of all ages. It is very clean and well kept. The foliage is beautiful as it wraps around the porches and buildings, pergola style. There are patio areas between the cottages that provide a grill and cement patio table and seats. The beach is across the street, but only a few steps and you are enjoying white sand, dolphins, and sometimes the sight of manatees. The resort provides you with chairs, umbrellas, and other fun beach toys. At their sister resort, Tortugo, which is only two buildings down, they have a take out restaurant with excellent food and great coffee. They also have a convenient store where you can get most any necessity. The pool is toward the back of the resort with a view of the bay. You also have access to a huge pier for fishing and just enjoying the sites of the bay. Everything you need is within walking distances or you can take the trolley for free. The trolley stop is actually right out front. So, please don't overlook the great qualities that Tradewinds has. I would highly recommend it.
“Heaven by the Beach”
Aug.19, 2012 - Hudson, Florida
Tradewinds is our favorite "getaway" location. The cottages are perfect and the staff keeps the area and rooms clean and the visit quiet and relaxing. The kitchen has everything you need for a long weekend. Shopping is close by, if you forget something. They provide beach stuff for kids and adults. Throw your suit in bag, grab some food and enjoy the beach, pool and local shopping. The trolley is right across the street and easy to catch. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.
“Quaint and Quiet”
My family was pleased with our stay at Tradewinds. The laudry facility was closed for repair and we were allowd to use the hotel laundry facility for free. Our unit was spotlessly clean and freshly decorated. We found the staff accomodating and professional. There was an extremely rude family staying at the resort but that can happen anywhere. The resort has a clean pool and very nice dock facility on the bay. There is a private beach access less than thirty yards away. While there are no sidewalks on Anna Maria Island, a pedestrian walking path is provided and the free trolly is very convenient. The hotel provided beach towels, chairs and umbrellas free o f charge. We really enjoyed the Tradewinds and would stay again any time!
“Great Place, Great Time”
Aug.16, 2012 - Seminole, Florida
No high rise condos, gentle people and totally customer focused staff at the Tradewinds. When we arrived, we ask for a different cottage. The imediate response was which cottage would you like and just a minute. Arrived on Thursday, not many people. But on Friday the Floridians from the central part of the state filled the place. What better endorsement. Charles Lambeth
“Memorial Day Weekend”
Aug.14, 2012 - Ormond Beach, Florida
My husband and I took our 6 year old grandaughter over Memorial Day weekend..we found this place on internet...we were not disappointed in anything...very clean..staff was friendly..loved the laid back feeling of the resort....the rooms were large...the pool was great...will go back again. The trolley came right in front of the resort so it was easy to travel around the area. It looks just like the picture on the internet and the brochure..no surprises...what you see if what you get...
Aug.5-6th, 2012 - Ellenton, Florida
We received a 2 nite stay annonymously...and what a great treat...very cute, clean and great location to everything.Would def tell friends to stay here.Thank You ...your place is #1 with us.
August 5, 2012 - Saint Petersburg, Pennsylvania
Overnight getaway for my husband's birthday. The place is beautiful & the staff very nice professional Villa was clean and quiet. We will be going back. My only issue was the parking situation. I'm not sure if they have parking for guests. The People next door had several guests that parked in our assigned space and in the grass right @ our front door.
July 22, 2012 - Wesley Chapel, Florida

“Wonderful Stay and Pet Friendly too!”
July 13, 2012 - Native Florida
We stayed at this hotel in September 2011 for 4 days. It was very quiet, had the place pretty much to ourselves. Loved the nice porches out front, the individual BBQ grill areas, and the beatiful view of the bay. Nice kitchen area, the only downside was not enough kitchen towels and no pot holders. No big deal. They will even leave you a bag with everything you need outside by your door each morning, which was great. Anna Maria is very laid back. We even managed to find a sunset cruise that allowed me to bring my pups on board for their first boat trip. Would definetly go back again!
“Very Well Maintained”
July 4, 2012 - Amelia Island, FL
Although our weekend in the sun did not go as planned due to a tropical storm, the Tradewinds was an excellent choice. From the architecture, you can tell it has been around a while, but the cottages are updated and exceptionally well maintained and very clean. The kitchenette was well supplied with dishes, blender, etc. We were able to park our boat & trailer at their sister resort two doors down at no charge. A couple of cautions are the ceramic tile floors get pretty slick when wet and read their cancellation policy. We will return again.
“It just keeps getting better”
June 5, 2012 - Ottawa, Ohio
This was our third visit to this resort, and we will keep coming back. Most reviews mention the"quaint cottages"the "olde Florida feel"and it is so true. When we sit on the patio, surrounded by tropical foliage and palm trees,it feels like your own little beach bungalow.About every thing you need is provided including dishes, silverware, pots and pans, coffee maker, iron and board. There is a nice grilling area next to the cottages. There are a lot of great restaurants and bars within walking distance,or the free trolley, which has a stop right in front of the resort. The pool and area is very nice and large, with plenty of loungers. The private pier is right off the pool area. The beach, just across the street,is spectacular.Loungers, beach towells, umbrellas are provided. There is a rental place on site for sail boats, jet skis etc.We rented stand-up paddleboards twice,a lot of fun.Now for the highlight of our vacation. We were about 30 feet out from the beach in appx.3 to 4 ft. of water when a pod of 5 manatees swam right up to us.We could literally reach down and touch them.Over at the Tortuga Inn(Tradewinds sister resort) the Le Petite cafe and gift shop is now open with an extensive menu,beer,wine,snacks,T-shirts etc.Thank you Tradewinds for another great vacation.
“Most enjoyable experience”
April 19, 2012 - guelph
We stayed at the Tradewinds for 7 days during February 2012. We found the location to be great, fronting onto the bay and across the road to the Gulf with a lovely beach. The grounds and pool area are lovely- very well kept. The private fishing pier was great for fishing and just sitting. The hotel is well situated for all local restaurants, yet the area is very quiet and relaxed. Staff were very helpful and had good local knowledge. We found our unit to be simple, yet very comfortable and spotlessly clean upon arrival. Could have used basic condiments in the kitchen such as salt and pepper, otherwise it was very nice. Would return.
“Very pleased with this little gem”
April 11, 2012 - Athens, Georgia
Stayed the week of April 1 in units 20 and 25. We had an original reservation beginning April 4, but added the first part of the week later. Jake handled my reservations and did a superb job. Both units were spotless and housekeeping kept the units tidy during the week (fresh towels, trash removal, etc.). The housekeepers work extremely hard each day...I'm not sure they even have time for lunch! We had to move mid week (end of added reservation) into a similar unit (original reservation). The unit we moved to was a little smaller, but still ample for our party. We were labeled an 'in-house' move and told that the folks coming into unit 20 were also an 'in-house' move. I questioned the young lady at the front desk regarding two in-house moves? Seems like everyone was playing fruit basket turnover to wind up in just another one bedroom unit, not to mention housekeeping had to do some extra work. We vacated unit 20 and moved across the drive to unit 25. The next morning unit 20 still sat vacant. I believe the 'in-house' move showed up sometime that afternoon. I have worked in the hospitality industry and I honestly believe the young lady at the front desk did not want to put forth the effort to figure out a way to keep everyone from having to move. I asked if the owners were coming into unit 20 and she said no. Never could get a clear answer on this move. I probably should have asked to speak with a manager. This was really the only disappointment I had in the property and I would stay here again. Other family members were pleased also! Thank you Tradewinds!
“Lovely cottages. Great location. Pleasant stay.”
April 9, 2012 - St. Petersburg, Florida
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in cottage #4. It was cute, clean, and had everything we needed. My husband and I took our grandchildren for a spring break beach getaway. Great pool and fishing pier. We saw dolphins from the pier. The beach is across the street, but has all the amenities ready for you. Lounge chairs, umbrellas and beach toys for the kids. Several restaurants were within walking distance, so we never got in the car. The trolley to Anna Maria island stops nearby, so we went to the city pier one day. All this, and we were able to bring our new puppy, as some of the cottages are pet friendly. All in all, a perfect spot.
March 27th, 2012 - Saint Louis, Missouri
After spending a week in Orlando at a very noisy resort, the Tradewinds was a breath of fresh air (in more ways than one). Quiet, very friendly, clean cottages, beautiful beach within walking distance and so much more. We're senior citizens and enjoyed the relaxed, quiet environment. The location is close to a variety of good restaurants and shopping areas. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Try it - you will definitely enjoy the experience. Lou F
“Cute, clean cottages ..perfect location”
March 23, 2012 - Winnipesaukee, NH
We rented cottage #31 for a week, which was clean and perfect for two but lacked storage for a long term rental. We were happy we chose this location on Anna Maria where we could walk to places. It has a nice pool area and the beach across the street. Enjoyed watching the dolphins and fishing from the pier. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We found a few really good restaurants like the Island Creperie at Bridge Street and The Waterfront restaurant across from the City Pier. The free island trolley was a nice bonus. This is a good choice for a couple or family (in the 2 bedroom) who is looking for a low key, clean accomodation in a good location.
“Wouldn't stay anywhere else”
March 10th, 2012 - CT
Have stayed at the Tradewinds for 3 out of the last 4 years it's so pretty and so quiet enjoy that there are few kids.
“Beautiful, Restful, Comfortable”
February 29, 2012 - Erie, Pennsylvania
Tradewind Resorts is the best vacation "find". The setting is quite attractive--pastel cottages, well manicured tropical landscape, beautiful blue waters. The cottages are clean, well equipped, quiet, and conveniently located. Management is attentive and knowledgable, giving us many suggestions for activities and dinners. The beach is just across the street and beach towels, umbrellas, and lounge chairs are provided. The pool and fishing pier located at the other side of the resort were also enjoyable. Two nice features of our vacation were the free trolley that travels the length of the island and poor (no) cell phone service. The resort provides free local and long distance calls but it was truly pleasant to disconnect from reality for a while. We can't wait to come back--next year we want to stay much longer.
“Clean, reliable, efficient”
February 27, 2012 - New York
We've rented this place on a spot, while looking for "escape" from a vacation property we've rented previously. TradeWinds is a quiet, comfortable and very clean place. Since we rented at the last moment we had to switch suites in the middle of our weekly stay. Both suites are nearly identical, consist of 2 rooms - bedroom and dining/ living room. As the ocean was a bit chilly, having a heated pool was a big plus.
February 14, 2012 - Riverdale, Maryland
Ok the tradewinds is a wonderful little getaway. It's very close to tampa as well as orlando. This resort is a small cluster of cottages. It is very quaint well kept up and has Good accommodations. The resort is pet friendly. 1 of the best features is that you are only have to cross the street to get to see the beach. You should note that this beach is regularly rated as 1 of the best on the planet. Fabulous. We've been back several times. It lacks a formal fitness center to the best of my recollection, but the beach is very popular with runners and surfers.
“Unpretentious, good location, good pool”
January 30, 2012 - London, United Kingdom
Clean, comfortable, everything worked, quiet location Pretty surroundins. Would go again.
“Another wonderful week”
Novemebr 29, 2011 - Ottawa, Ohio
This was our second visit to the Tradewinds Resort and it was just as great as the first.I think the property looks every bit as good as the pictures. The staff keeps the rooms and grounds immaculate, and they are so friendly. As a matter of fact,we could not believe how friendly everyone we met on the island was.Must be something in the water. On the first day there,David, the president of Tradewinds showed us his restaurant in progress at the Tortuga Inn (Tradewinds sister resort a couple of properties to the south) It is going to be called "Le Petite Cafe by Island Creperies" Island Creperies is a popular french restaurant on Bridge Street. They are also going to have wine and beer etc.for take-out.They will also deliver to your room at Tradewinds.David said they should be open in about a month. On the third day we jumped on the free trolley to go bar-hopping.We knew all the names of the places we wanted to go by reading the Anna Maria Island forum on this site, but we didnt know where they were. The nice lady driving the trolley let us know where to get off and which way to walk.It was never a long walk, lots of stops along the route. Our three favorites were the Tiki Hut on the beach at Gulf Drive Cafe, (A very short walk from Tradewinds) The Anchor Inn,and the Drift Inn,(friendly locals). The rest of the time we hung out at the beach and the heated pool during the day. We cooked breakfast every morning, and ate out at some great places for dinner. Our one regret is that we have about 15 years before we can retire and move to this beautiful island "sigh" But we will be coming back yearly until then.
“A Piece of Old Florida Still Exists on Anna Maria Island at Tradewinds Resort”
October 23, 2011 - ames, ia
My family's recent stay at Tradewinds Resort on Anna Maria Island was one of the highlights of our entire vacation to Florida. Tradewinds' brightly painted pastel cottages along with the beautifully manicured landscape and grounds made us feel as though we were stepping back in time. At the same time, our spotlessly clean, well-appointed cottage anticipated our every need, providing every convenience whether we were spending time inside or heading to the beach. Moreover, Tradewinds' unique location provides access to a beautiful private beach as well as a pool and pier overlooking Sarasota Bay.
In addition to being terrific hosts, the owners of Tradewinds Resort are active participants in the community. I know this, because I purchased our two-night guest package provided by Tradewinds in a silent auction for the American Cancer Society's Race For the Cure.
My only regret is that we did not stay longer.
“Very Nice and Quiet.” October 2, 2011 - Hollywood, Florida
Was only here for 1 day because the reservation that was made got mixed up so we got put in the wrong location. Despite that the place was lovely in my eyes. Very peaceful, next to the beach and a very relaxing atmosphere. I am hoping that I can go back here again and I think anyone that books this place will be satisfied if you are looking for a relaxing get away.
Room Tip: Book way in advance of your trip. I heard some people book over a year in advance to get the very nice locations on this property.
“Peaceful, wonderful relaxation.” Sept. 27, 2011 - Bradenton, Florida
This short get away was just what I needed. The rooms were spotless, the amenities were everything needed for a restful, yet fun get away. The Tradewinds Resort is in the midst of all sorts of entertainment. Yet you can be thoroughly comfortable just lounging in the suite or by the pool or on the beach. If you need anything it's just a call away.
Room Tip: This location would be wonderful for any type of reunion. You can stay in your own suite but be very nearby to other couples or family and still maintain your privacy. It's just truly a great place to get away or vacation
“Super Clean, Super Staff, Super Stay” - Sept. 25, 2011 - Bradenton, Florida
What an absolutely beautiful spot the Trade Winds Resort on Anna Maria is. The location is perfect, the staff are helpful, happy, ready to assist with any needs you may have. The rooms are so clean and shiney without the antiseptic smell. The pool is sparkling and just right. It was a wonderful, quiet, restful, relaxing three days of sun and rest. I will recommend the Trade Winds to everyone I know in and out of Florida. What a great place!!!
Room Tip: While you may not need the 2 bed/2 bath #23 Unit it is certainly worth the extra money to have the beautiful view of the intercoastal and the upper deck for early morning coffee.
“Nice and Relaxing” Sept. 16, 2011 - palmetto, florida
Love this place...... Nice and relaxing..... Will be back again.
Room Tip: We had room 19 and it was right near the pool
“Home away from Home! We loved it!!” August 29, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
We loved the cottage feel with a lovely little side yard to grill and a front porch patio. The natural light in the cottage was great - it felt like "home". It was super, super clean. One of our favorite features was the proximity of the cottage between the bay and the beach. My husband and son thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk just a few paces out to go fishing on the dock and we all loved how easy it was to walk to the beach. The pool on the property was lovely, too. We really appreciated the "pet friendly" feature and it truly felt like "home away from home". Our little Jack Russell Terrier was very happy to be welcomed, too. Thank you Tradewinds for a wonderful visit and we will definitely plan to come back as much as we can! Room Tip: The North Cottages are very nice because the front window faces South - so the natural light is perfect.
“A little slice of heaven!” August 11, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
The Tradewinds is a quiet, quaint, clean place to stay. The staff are friendly. The location is perfect near Bridge Street Circle and great restaurants. We stayed here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and will be back. If you are looking for a quiet Key West Style place to stay without the madness, this is for you! The people of Anna Maria Island are welcoming and eager to please. Thank you for a memorable anniversary.
“Nice and clean” July 29, 2011 - Orlando, Florida
This is a 1 bedroom unit across the beach. They provide all you need to make your stay enjoyable.
“Beautiful resort, beautiful island” July 20, 2011 - Ottawa, Ohio
This was our first, but not our last visit to this resort. We arrived late July 13th and they left a key out,and the lights and a/c on.We were able to check out late on the 16th due to a later flight.Very accomodating, friendly staff. There is about 35 units here,so it feels like you have your own little beach house. No elevator here folks. With the exception of one cottage, they are all ground floor. The pool and grounds are kept spotless. We saw manatees from their private pier on the bay,and dolphins at the private beach, how cool. Some reviewers didnt care for the road crossing to the beach, but it is a really short walk across and to the left. It is only 2 lanes and 25 mph speed limit.I saw a bunch of drivers stop for people waiting to cross.Very friendly locals too.Incidentally most of the condos on the island are WAY across the street. There was a mix of younger couples, older couples, couples with kids and couples with pets.Everybody i talked to there really enjoyed the place.Go with no fear, you will probably want to go back,as we do. Steve and Sandy
“Can't wait to go back” July 12, 2011 - Clearwater, Florida
It was our 6th year to visit the resort. We anticipate our next visit from the time we drive out to go home. I would reccomend this resort to anyone. It's absolutely wonderful. Quiet, clean, secluded....like a little hideway. We have kinda made it " Our home away from home". Look forward to our next visit in the fall of 2011. It's the place to forget your troubles...
“As advertised. Clean with many amenities” July 9, 2011 - Orlando
Our first stay at Tradewinds for four nights was all we anticipated. Single story buildings with 2 or 3 side by side units in each. We had a separate bedroom from the living and kitchen areas and was fantastic (unit #16 North.) Kitchen had all the particulars needed from fixing coffee to a full meal. Beautiful pool and bay waters within 100 ft.; while the sandy beach of the Gulf of Mexico was a short walk across the road. Very quiet at night and the staff were pleasant and accomodating. Having stayed at their sister facility "Tortuga Inn" just a couple doors away, we highly recommend either for your leisurely stay on Bradenton Beach. Room Tip: Units with the higher numbers are furthest from the road.
“In love with Anna Maria Island/Tradewinds Resort” June 23, 2011 - Ontario
We initially booked for a week in May but added a day on the beginning and three days at the end and we have to say we could barely tear ourselves away. What a gorgeous resort, lovely staff, working constantly to keep things up and that was without daily housekeeping which we opted not to take opportunity of as our dog would not have liked strangers coming in and out. Great to have been able to take our nearly 14 yr. old mostly lab to a place he was most welcomed. He even got to eat with us at the Cortez Pier Fish Market Restaurant!! He was also welcomed in St. Armand's Circle and Rotten Ralph's Pier Restaurant and at the resort by so many wonderful fellow cottagers. Beautiful grounds, tastefully decorated, clean, little cottage with everything we needed. Loved the beach, the pool, the pier for fishing (only thing is it should be open for those of us who like to fish early in the morning or later at night, as access was initially cut off when the pool was closed...quickly rectified thanks to management who left one of the gates open & allowed us on the pier after hrs....much appreciated as we were paying guests after all and love to fish) Take a pontoon boat out for a day if you are comfortable!!! Amazing!!! Rod and Reel Pier for manatee sighting was awesome!! Our dog swam along the Causeway on Manatee Rd. every day sometimes with dolphins! What more can I say except I'd like to come back to #24...our little private porch was delightful...the free trolley that runs up and down the Island was so handy...and the sunrise and sunsets gorgeous. I could go on & on but I won't except to say this is one of the most beautiful, untouched places left on the face of the earth!!!! Thank you!!!
“We love Tradewinds and will keep going back!” June 20, 2011 - Fishers, Indiana
This was the second time we stayed at Tradewinds and we will keep going back. The cottages are beautiful inside and out and are always very clean. The access to beach and bay are just a two minute walk either direction. The staff is so friendly and very accomodating. My husband and I both enjoy the time we spend there and hope to go back very soon.
“Fantastic resort and great vacation” June 17, 2011
Enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Beautiful island and very comfortable resort with all we wanted.
“A relaxing vacation spot-wonderful room!!!” June 16, 2011 - Wheaton, Illinois
My family and I stayed at the Tradewinds Tortuga on Bradenton Beach over our spring break. We stayed in the unit directly overlooking the pool, which was wonderful! The unit was so spacious, well appointed and convenient! I would sit on the deck with my glass of wine, read my book and watch the boys in the pool! It was just ideal! The staff was very helpful and courteous. The unit was cleaned daily-fresh towels and other toiletries were refilled-we didn't have to lift a finger! The beach is directly across the street. Towels and chairs were plentiful-no need to hunt around for a spot. Lots to do and see-we will definitely return and highly recommend staying at the Tradewinds Tortuga Inn, especially the unit overlooking the pool! Fabulous!
“Total relaxation, outstanding customer service, can't wait to return” June 15, 2011 - Winchester, Virginia
We must say our trip started out less than stellar. Never having been to AMI, but having read what a glorious place AMI was and having a few extra days at the end of a business trip to Miami, we contacted the AMI Chamber of Commerce for available accommodations on the island. It was Easter weekend, so we didn't hold out much hope of easily finding a place. The fellow at the Chamber gave us the name of a member of the Commerce - - we took it sight unseen and upon arriving late in the evening, found it to be horrible, run down and nothing like what their web-site represented, and that's being kind; we stayed one night and decided to find something more suitable the next morning (we shall leave this place unnamed, unless specifically asked). Now on to the good stuff . . we were so fortunate to stop at the TRADEWINDS RESORT. We were greeted in a most professional manner by Donna. She graciously allowed us to see several different cottages and choose the one to our liking; she offered a "walk-in, last minute" discount and explained all the amenities and features of the resort. She also provided names and locations of restaurants and grocery stores. We cannot say enough good things about our cottage; it was so clean and spacious, with a well stocked kitchen and bath. The grounds were lush and beautiful. We were provided with complimentary umbrellas and towels for use at the beach, as well as chaise lounges on the beach, which was a very, very short stroll across the road. The large, clean and well-maintained pool on the bayside was a great place to spend the afternoon reading or fish-watching when not on the beach. There was a nice laundry facility on the grounds, which also included books and dvds. The free island trolley stop just across the road was handy as well. What started as a potential vacation disaster turned into a totally relaxing, beautiful stay. Room Tip: The three cottages we saw were all very nice.
“Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bradenton area” June 13, 2011 - Shelter Island, New York
Have been vacationing in the Anna Maria Island area for many years and have stayed in four or five different places over the years. Tradewinds Resort is BY FAR the best place to stay. It's very clean, the employees are sooo very nice and helpful. It's quiet and very convenient to the beach and shopping.
“Enjoyed every minute” June 5, 2011 - Atlanta, Georgia
We picked this place for the previous reviews for peace and quiet, amenities;pool, access to beach, dock, and close restaurants. And it lived up to its reviews and more. We liked the cottages with the flowers handing over the porches, the access to umbrellas and chairs for the beach. Oh the beach was clean and beautiful with plenty of room for everyone. At night the place was quiet so you could sit out on the porches and enjoy your beverage of choice. The grounds were well maintained and the people there were very personable and helpful. Also thinking of having the whole gamily join us for a small family get togther there. Lots of things to do for all ages. Over all we highly recommend this place and will return in the future soon.
“Ahhhh.....a little piece of heaven......” May 30, 2011 - London, England
We stayed here for a few days in May 2011. We had hoped to stay at the Tortuga Inn, but they were full. However, we were not at all disappointed. The rooms were super clean and the staff were friendly and helpful when we saw them. Even though its a small cottage type resort, everything felt very private.
This is not a 5 star luxury resort....it is a beach cottage, but it was lovely with all amenities you could possibly need including a fitted kitchen/coffee maker/oven microwave, etc.... dvd player and dvd's from the front desk.
They provide you with anything and everything you could possibly need for a fantastic beach holiday including beach toys for the kids, parasols and towels. A great pool and easy access to nearly anything you could need, we had a fantastic time.
I have read ac couple of unfavourable reviews of the resort and all I can say is that we never had any problem and i feel that even if we had, a call to the front desk would have sorted any issue out very quickly. The staff were very helpful and even offered to move us to the Tortuga for a few days when there was availability because they knew that that had been our first choice. We declined, we were extremely happy with where we were.
To all the Tradewinds staff and management, thanks so much for making our short break a memorable one and we will definitely be back!
Room Tip: All rooms are great. You can book with no worry.
“Tradewinds is the Best Pet Friendly Resort Ever!” May 17, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
This is my first time staying at the Tradewinds Resort. and I was somewhat apprehensive and nervous about staying at this pet friendly hotel. I have been told I have an "attitude" but since I am a chihuahua, I know that I expect and deserve the best! Tradewinds did not disappoint. All the people and dogs were very friendly and I felt right at home. I stayed at one of the northern cottages and it was very roomy and very clean and almost like brand-new. All the people that worked at the Tradewinds were very nice and helpful. They even offered to take care of me when my parents wanted to go to the beach after we checked out. I was supposed to go to some stupid pet boarding place but instead I was invited to join my parents. (it was cheaper I heard them say) I made sure I was on my best behavior while being on vacation so I will be to enjoy another stay at the Tradewinds Resort.
“PERFECT, just what we needed.” May 15, 2011 - Norwood, Massachusetts
If you are NOT looking for a fabulous retreat that is quiet, relaxing, comfortable, clean, and friendly with beautiful beaches, a beautiful pool, dolphins swimming by, pelicans flying around, gorgeous romantic sunsets, and a great selection of places to eat and have yummy cocktails all at bargain prices then I'm sorry but Tradewinds on Anna Maria Island is not for you. But if you are willing to leave your troubles behind and visit what we think is a PERFECT getaway that might be just what YOU need then bring your flip-flops, sun block, swimwear and beach hat and we'll see you there because we are definitely going back.
“Exceeded our expectations, Family Friendly, Great Customer Service!” May 12, 2011 - Golden, Colorado
I recently stayed here with my wife and two small children (5 year old and 5 month old). Wanted something quiet, small and not a mega-resort. Friends had stayed at their sister property - Tortuga - a year before and suggested we stay here. It was perfect. Small cottage with 1-bedroom and a full kitchen. Perfect for a 5 year old on the pull out couch and our infant in the pack-and-play in the bedroom. We loaded up on groceries for breakfast and lunch and dinner (only ate out for dinner twice). The front porch was great for coffee in the morning and just relaxing and watching the palms sway. We spent Mother's Day weekend (May 6-10th) plus a few days. The staff was wonderful and always smiling and always making sure our stay was comfortable. Price was reasonable for the island and the location is great. Granted, you have to cross a very busy road to get to the beach, but its worth the short walk. Beach area is clean and far enough away from the public beach that it is not super crowded. Small pool overlooking the bay is peaceful and perfect for relaxing after too much sun on the beach! We look forward to visiting again in the future. Trolley stop right out front and their sister property Tortuga is just two properties down the road towards the Bridge Street District. Highly suggest having dinner at "Eat In Here" down in Anna Maria as well as "Banana Cabana" in Bradenton Beach (just walking distance down past the Beach House.
